Introduction to the Education and Training Support

Vision

To drive the use of BIM (building information models) and interoperability to the mainstream property and construction industry

Objectives

  • To specify education and training requirements from the perspective of end users
  • To identify education and training opportunities for vendors based on end user requirements
  • To identify education and training opportunities for academic institutions and industry groups based on end user requirements
  • To set up a responsive structure in IAI to work and collaborate on education and training issues

There is also some coverage of BIM and IFC concepts in advanced computing courses in the Building Construction Management programs at both UG and PG level.

Virtual Construction

The eBygg Centre for Information Technology in Construction at Luleå University of Technology arranges a course in virtual construction in collaboration with the ITC Euromaster program during April to June 2006. The course provides an overview of planning and virtual design methods for construction, with a special focus on simulations with 4D CAD technology (3D CAD + time). IFC is covered by the course.

The course is in the ITC Euromaster program for the final year at the

university.
